DULUTH — Minnesota Duluth sophomore goaltender Adam Gajan has backstopped the Bulldogs to a 5-1 record this season in his first six starts via a .922 save percentage and 1.51 goals against average that ranks fourth in the country among goalies with four or more starts in 2025-26.

It’s in stark contrast to the first six starts of the 6-foot-3 Slovakian’s college career last fall when he went 3-3, posting a .899 save percentage and 3.19 GAA.

So what’s changed?

“I’m playing a lot of golf,” Gajan said.

Golf? Really?

Yeah, the 2023 second-round draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks knows it sounds a bit absurd, but it’s one of the many changes Gajan made on and off the ice following a disappointing freshman season at UMD in which he finished with an .885 save percentage, 3.33 goals against
