Authorities with the Jefferson City Police Department Community Action Team and Osage County Sheriff's Department arrested a man Tuesday who is accused of raping a 14-year-old.

Augustus Adolph Armstead Jr. , 37, was charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy last week.

Armstead was arrested around 5:20 p.m. Tuesday in Linn, according to the Jefferson City Police Department.

A probable cause statement alleges that the 14-year-old's parent found Armstead having sex with the child in their room and reported the incident to police.

Armstead is being held at the Cole County Jail without bond, and he had an arraignment hearing in Cole County Wednesday afternoon.
