OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The case against a man claiming self-defense in a deadly Midtown stabbing will go to trial.

DeShawn Griffin is charged with 2nd-degree murder for the stabbing that killed Johnathan Wallace in a parking lot near Saddle Creek and Cuming Street.

Prosecutors say Wallace asked Griffin for a lighter and that turned into a fight.

Griffin then allegedly stabbed Wallace to death, according to authorities.

Griffin’s wife Kayla is charged as an accessory for allegedly helping her husband hide his appearance and washing the knife used in the stabbing.

Her case is still pending.
