PHOENIX — A 16-year-old boy has been sentenced to prison for threatening his girlfriend with a gun and violently beating her, authorities announced Wednesday.

Troy Aguilar-Olmos attacked his girlfriend in March, after he threatened to shoot and kill her if she didn’t talk to him, according to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

However, when she approached him, the then-15-year-old Aguilar-Olmos strangled her.

He also punched her repeatedly and pointed a gun at her back, prosecutors said. He was later arrested at his parent’s home.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault, which were both considered domestic violence offenses.
