A 16-year-old was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison for assaulting his teen girlfriend, the Maricopa County Attorney's Office said Wednesday.
Troy Aguilar-Olmos, who was 15 at the time of the arrest, threatened to shoot and kill his girlfriend if she did not come out to talk to him in March of this year, the release stated.
When she approached him, Aguilar-Olmas strangled her, pointed a gun at her back, and punched her repeatedly. Aguilar-Olmos was later arrested at his parent’s home.
Aguilar-Olmos pleaded guilty to one count of Class 3 aggravated assault and one count of Class 4 aggravated assault.
“What happened to this young woman is heartbreaking. No relationship should ever be marked by fear or violence, no matter the age of the offender,” said County Attorney Rachel Mitchell in
