WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) - Sunshine Warren Homes now has a way for people who have rented their homes for 20-plus years to buy them
The issue was raised in July when Ernestine Carmichael-Owens told Warren City Council she was promised she could buy the house she had rented on Second Street for 25 years.
At Wednesday's meeting, city council learned that Sunshine Homes has partnered with 7 17 Credit Union to provide three-year loans for the 10 to 15 people wanting to buy their houses. They will sell from $3,000 to $30,000, with payments being what they are paying in rent.
"Our folks are going to be connected with the 7 17 staff so they can walk in the door and they're past rent roles, because they are paying rent for 20-28 years, that will count as their creditworthiness," said Melinda Phillip
