LANSING, (Mich.) WLNS -- Organizers of the Holt 9/11 Hero Run are helping to keep Mid-Michigan safe for all, presenting a $9,600 check to Crime Stoppers of Mid-Michigan Wednesday.

Organizers say the hero run serves a few key purposes, honoring those lost on the tragedy of 9/11 while also helping local charities and nonprofits. This year, Ingham County Sheriff Scott Wrigglesworth thought Crime Stoppers would be the perfect recipient.

Crime Stoppers raises money to give out as awards to citizens who call an anonymous line with information leading to the arrest of felons in Mid-Michigan.
