ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The mother of a student who was violently attacked on his school bus last week is responding to a statement released by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, who say she "failed" to meet with officers.

On Thursday, Oct. 16, the Wards Creek Elementary student was on his way home from school when the incident occurred.

"This kid behind me, his backpack went under my seat and I saw it, so I picked it up and I like held it over the seat and he got it and then like a minute went by and then like he slams his backpack on my head and then like when I'm like this on my seat he drops it on my head again," he told First Coast News .

Following the incident, a police report was filed. Police say that as the case is ongoing, a report is not yet available.
