FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. — A Fernandina Beach family is pleading for safety improvements at an intersection where cars have crashed into their home multiple times, the most recent incident happening this past July.
Kathy and John Stevenson say speeding and distracted drivers have made the corner of Citrona Drive and Atlantic Avenue dangerous for their neighborhood.
Since 2016, vehicles have hit their property four times, one crash sending a driver to the hospital after a car went through their guest bedroom.
“All four of them came down Citrona and came across,” Kathy Stevenson said. “We've got to do something for our little town so people aren’t hurt.”
The Florida Department of Transportation said it has reviewed the intersection several times because of ongoing safety concerns.
