BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Arkansas’ 2021 "Stand Your Ground" law could be a factor as authorities decide whether to file charges in a Bentonville deadly road rage shooting.
The law states that people who believe they're in danger do not have to run away before trying to defend themselves.
The "Stand Your Ground Law" states that if you are threatened with violence, you have the right to defend yourself. However, former state Sen. Bob Ballinger said it all comes down to the facts taking on these cases.
"If you are where if you were at a location that you're legally allowed to be engaged in activity that you're legally allowed to be engaged in, and you're threatened with deadly force, you can meet that force with force and defend yourself," Ballinger said.
