LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - One of Kentucky’s largest law enforcement agencies revealed its new downtown Louisville headquarters.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office officially cut the ribbon on its new headquarters at 515 West Market Street on Wednesday, Oct. 22, after nearly 30 years down the road. They say that the new space will help them to better train deputies, serve the public and keep people safe.
“The building that we had before was not very interactive with the public, I guess is the best way to say that,” said Sheriff David James. “But here it’s at street level. You can come in.”
The unveiling was done by the first black sheriff in Jefferson County history, David James, who was appointed by the Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg to fill the shoes of longtime Sheriff John Aubrey
