HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) has introduced new monthly retention bonuses for police communications officers (PCOs) and emergency response operators (EROs).
HPD said they hope incentives will strengthen 911 operations and support the employees who serve as the city’s first line of help.
With the support of Interim Chief Rade Vanic, the bonuses were approved to recognize the essential work of the department’s dispatch and emergency response teams, who answer thousands of calls for help across Oahu every month.
Under the new plan, monthly retention bonuses are:
ERO I, II, III: $500 per month
Call taker (PCO I): $1,000 per month
Radio operator (PCO II and IV): $2,000 per month
