HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A pile of water-damaged furniture, flooring, and other household items sat in the front yard of a Koali Road home on Wednesday as crews deep cleaned inside.
The unit was one of 12 that were flooded by a 20-inch water main break Tuesday evening on Dole Street near the University of Hawaii at Manoa , about a mile away from the cluster of homes.
“On heavy rain days, we have a tendency to have some flooding here, but nothing like we saw yesterday,” said flood victim Kent Simpson, who has been living in his one-bedroom unit for about six years.
Simpson recalled watching television when he saw water seep into his ground-level house.
“It came from all directions,” Simpson described. “I was just trying to get a lot of my important things up high because the water w
