SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Cattle producers in South Dakota are showing concern over President Trump’s plan to import Argentinian beef to lower beef prices for consumers.
They say the move would undercut family farmers and ranchers, damaging their livelihoods.
The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association said that trying to influence prices by adding more supply of beef will hurt the bottom line for family farmers and ranchers and further expand a deep trade imbalance with Argentina.
The South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association said that locals will feel the pinch. Vice President Craig Bieber said cattle producers were recovering from tougher years.
