WHITE BEAR LAKE — Addy Parrott needed fewer than 12 seconds to prove that she was the real deal.

It was the dog days of summer earlier this year, and during Esko’s varsity tryouts, Parrott ran the fastest 30-yard dash of any player in the program, which immediately caught head coach Sharon Lahti’s attention.

“She was the fastest we had,” Lahti said. “When you see that, it’s like, ‘How do you not play her at a position where she can utilize that strength of hers to our benefit?’”

Two months after that season-altering tryout, Parrott’s explosive speed proved to be the difference for Esko (14-2-1), as the freshman forward scored three goals in a 4-1 win against St. Croix Prep in the Class A quarterfinals on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
