CLOQUET — When Cloquet’s Cadence Wilmot sent a match-winning kill to the floor against Hermantown Wednesday, the student section — swathed in plenty of orange — erupted into celebration.

The Lumberjacks advanced to the Section 7AAA semifinal with the win, Wilmot finished with four kills and three ace serves in a 25-16, 22-25, 25-15, 25-17 win, but a funny thing happened as the game finished.

The Hawks student section — also clad in orange — also seemed to celebrate like they had just won a big game.

Student sections often have theme nights — like camouflage, white-out, or patriotic themes — but rarely do those themes agree or do they seem to cheer in unison at the end but Wednesday’s game was different.
