The Rock Ridge girls tennis team took an opportunity to make some history on Wednesday, claiming the school’s first state championship of any kind since consolidation by defeating Blake 6-1 for the MSHSL Class AA team championship.
The fourth-seeded Wolverines were nearly perfect on the day at Life Time Bloomington South, dominating top-seeded Mahtomedi 7-0 in the morning semifinals before the afternoon championship match against the third-seeded Bears, who had won the last two Class A titles.
