Niagara winemaking, past and present, is on display at Lincoln Museum and Cultural Centre .

“Through The Grapevine: Winemaking in Niagara,” an exhibit that opened earlier this month and runs to October 2026, is a look at all the people who made the industry what it is today, said Adam Montgomery, curator of exhibitions and collations at the museum.

The exhibit traces winemaking from the early 1800s to the present and how Niagara’s climate and fertile soil has made the region home to a multibillion-dollar industry.

“It covers the early days of winemaking with early settlers experimenting with native grapes, using them for growing and for wine,” said Montgomery, adding there is an early wine critique from the diary of Lady Simcoe (Elizabeth Posthuma Simcoe), wife of John Graves Simcoe
