In good news for Agniveers, their retention rate may be increased from the current 25% to 75%. The proposal is among the key issues likely to be discussed at the Army Commanders Conference in Jaisalmer, which begins on Thursday (October 23), a report said.

Other major agenda items include measures to enhance jointness among the three services and a review of the implementation of Mission Sudarshan Chakra, the Indian Express reported.

The conference comes at a time with the first batch of Agniveers completing their four-year tenure next year. Their possible retention is, therefore, a significant focus of the deliberations.
