BRISTOL, Conn. (WFSB) - Police arrested two Waterbury residents and seized more than 1,700 bags of suspected fentanyl after a traffic stop on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Riverside Avenue when the vehicle fled.

Bristol Police Department officers deployed stop sticks, eventually disabling the vehicle.

While attempting to elude police, the occupants threw a book bag out the window of the vehicle, which was later recovered.

After a brief foot pursuit, officers took the pair into custody.

Tyrek Middleton and Nigeria Minchenko, both of Waterbury, were arrested in the incident.

Police seized 1,759 bags of suspected fentanyl, 40 grams of cocaine, 22 grams of crack cocaine, 12 oxycodone pills and more than $2,100 in cash.
