Another attempt to halt the temporary shelter village from moving forward failed to pass at Thunder Bay city ouncil, with the majority of councillors agreeing the urgency of the homelessness situation requires immediate action.
"We have to do something," said Thunder Bay Mayor Ken Boshcoff during Tuesday night's city council meeting. "We have to make a commitment and put our money where our mouth is and do something to show we are trying to solve this."
At-large Coun. Rajni Agarwal brought forward a motion to remove the temporary shelter village from a strategy that the City refers to as its 10-part Human Rights-Based Community Action Plan. The plan was passed last year to address homelessness in the city.
