Quinte West is saying goodbye to one of its most outspoken and dedicated city councillors.

Council veteran Sally Freeman died Wednesday leaving a large hole in Quinte West city council chambers.

Freeman had experienced health issues but that didn’t stop her from attending city council meetings through live online services.

Freeman moved from Toronto to Quinte West in 1977.

A member of council after she was first elected in the mid 1990s, Freeman represented residents for decades and served on a wide variety of committees and boards.

She unsuccessfully ran for mayor in 2000 and stayed away from the political arena for several years until she was returned as councillor in the next municipal election.

A former real estate agent, Freeman was a member of the Fire Emergency Services Board,
