FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) – One of two sisters appeared in court Wednesday on charges related to a crash that killed three North Carolina high school football players.

Investigators say the 19-year-old, Destini Genwright, was racing her older sister, 21-year-old Dymond Monroe, at the time.

Monroe’s Honda Civic ran off Rosehill Road, killing three E.E. Smith High School students, according to investigators; Monroe was critically injured.

Court documents allege Genwright was going 76 in a 45 mile per hour zone.

The Oct. 8 crash rattled the entire Fayetteville community while loved ones honored the lives of 18-year-old Jai-Hyon Elliot and the two 17-year-olds, Nicholas Williams and Trevor Merritt, during funeral services last week.
