MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — Keeping the community safe is always top of mind for first responders across Arizona. So, one Valley fire department took it a step further to help spread awareness of fire prevention .
Earlier this month, Mesa Fire & Medical Department held a pancake breakfast for the community. The department says firefighters and volunteers educated residents on various safety tips, including how to use lithium-ion batteries. Emergency crews stressed the importance of buying, charging, and recycling batteries safely.
Firefighters also shared the benefits of being part of the department’s Firewise program , which prepares homeowners for wildfires. Crews shared tips with homeowners on how to minimize damage and keep their homes safe if they ever encounter a wildfire.
