DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – With the first pitch of the World Series set for Friday night, baseball fans across the nation will be glued to the edge of their seats, witnessing every hit and run on the sport’s biggest stage.

But where exactly are the best places in the country for those who live and breathe America’s pastime?

A few locations in and around the Triangle made appearances in a new study by WalletHub that aimed to determine which cities offer the most fun, affordable experiences for baseball fans.

Durham, the home of the Minor League Baseball affiliate Durham Bulls, topped all cities statewide, ranking No. 28 overall and No. 4 among midsize cities.

Trailing behind is Buies Creek, best known as the home of Campbell Fighting Camels and their historically successful baseball program.
