Dozens of people filled the Noel Wien Public Library auditorium on Tuesday to weigh in on improvements and changes to local long-term transportation issues. Some studied large display boards, while others left sticky notes on immediate concerns or long-term concepts.
Tuesday’s open house was the first of many outreach efforts as Fairbanks Area Surface Transportation (FAST) Planning starts updating its long-range transportation plan.
The document, called a metropolitan transportation plan, is required by the Federal Highway Administration, said FAST Planning Executive Director Jackson Fox. The plan covers the FAST Planning boundaries, which include the Fairbanks and North Pole area.
