A Fairbanks man was sentenced to 18.5 years in Fairbanks Superior Court on Tuesday for manslaughter in connection with the death of Robert Rones in 2022.

Ryan Patrick Robinson, who turns 22 next week, pleaded guilty in June to manslaughter, which was a reduction from a felony first-degree murder. The plea agreement carried with it a “most serious aggravator,” which can enhance the sentence due to the seriousness of the crime.

Ryan Robinson was driving the vehicle that chased Rones through Fairbanks the morning of May 27, 2022. Robinson handed his firearm to the other person in the car, Kevin Morse Robinson Jr, who fired 13 shots and fatally hit Rones.

Ryan Robinson and Kevin Robinson Jr are not related.
