GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily) — A man is facing charges after he allegedly made social media threats against members of the Gilbert Town Council.

Robert Byrd, 40, was arrested last week after Gilbert Police say he made a Facebook comment threatening violence against councilmembers.

The details of the threats that were made have not been provided.

Byrd faces five counts of threatening to inflict physical harm on a person or property in electronic communication. A booking photo was not immediately available.

Gilbert Police said this is a reminder that threats of violence will be taken very seriously, even if made on social media.
