After the Broncos win over the Giants on Sunday, Denver head coach Sean Payton appeared to take a veiled shot at his former quarterback, Russell Wilson.

The comment elicited a response from Wilson, who called the coach “classless” , and Payton later said “in no way, shape or form” was he intending to criticize the backup QB.

Amid the drama, ESPN’s Michael Wilbon

“Sean Payton is a really, really, really fine coach,” Wilbon said on “Pardon the Interruption” this week. “Except Sean Payton behaves, too often, like a classless bum. That’s what he behaves like."

After the Giants lost 33-32 after leading 19-0 entering the fourth quarter on Sunday, Payton praised quarterback Jaxson Dart and appeared to criticize Wilson in the process.
