AKRON, Ohio — U.S. Marshals and Akron police say they have arrested Deshawn Stafford, 24, who was wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of Timothy Hutchinson in the Highland Square neighborhood earlier this month.

Akron police confirmed that Stafford was previously convicted for his role in the 2022 death of 17-year-old Ethan Liming outside of the I PROMISE School in Akron. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison after being found guilty of aggravated assault and assault.

CASE BACKGROUND

Police reported that Hutchinson, 25, was caught in the crossfire of two shooters on Oct. 5. Police responded to West Market Street just before 12:30 a.m. for a reported shooting and found Hutchinson with a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospita
