LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- The city of Las Vegas reports that its Operation Pawsitive Change initiative to curb backyard breeding is yielding results.

During a nearly four-month period, from July 1 through October 20, 15 puppies were rescued, one firearm was recovered, and 37 citations issued involving illegal breeding or unlicensed animal sales. In 2024, when Operation Pawsitive Change was launched, it resulted in the rescue of 16 puppies, the issuance of 35 citations, two arrests, and the seizure of four firearms.

"Officers utilized undercover investigations across social media platforms to identify suspected unlicensed breeders. Controlled meetings at designated public parks led to citations, animal seizures, and puppy surrenders to Animal Protection Services," the city said in a news releas
