CLINTON, Maine (WABI) - A 21-year-old man is facing multiple charges after a chase involving two minors in Clinton Tuesday night.

Clinton Police say Jamez Leggett evaded law enforcement after he was seen with two children under 16 who had been reported missing.

Police say Leggett drove around police officers and fled at a high speed. Officers stopped pursuing Leggett as he exceeded 100 miles per hour and swerved across lanes, police said.

The vehicle was found a short time later where it had crashed through a guardrail and struck construction equipment in Benton, police said.

Leggett was later arrested in Winslow and taken to the hospital before being taken to Kennebec County Jail.
