A driver was hurt Thursday morning when they lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a tree in South Whitehall Township, police said.

Police Chief Frank J. Lombardo told lehighvalleylive.com the single-vehicle accident happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. at Mauch Chunk and Peachtree roads.

The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle and was then taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries, the police chief said. A condition was not immediately available Thursday afternoon.

The accident remains under investigation by the South Whitehall Police Department.
