RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect accused in a $32,000 jewelry heist.
Deputies with the WCSO responded for reports of a jewelry theft in at the home of a 91-year-old Reno resident on Monday. The victim told police that multiple pieces of jewelry, including several high value items that were family heirlooms, were missing.
Police learned the victim had recently hired a technician, 42-year-old Robert Wild, to perform routine maintenance work inside the home.
The WCSO says Wild was responsible for the theft, and that he was in the process of attempting to mail the stolen jewelry to a precious metal refining company.
Deputies were able to recover the jewelry, along with a gold pendant that did not belong to Wild.
