RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Five people have been arrested in an operation targeting human trafficking operations.

The Human Exploitation and Recovery Unit of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office conducted the operation on Wednesday.

The suspects were not named, but all five are now facing charges of engaging in prostitution or solicitation.

“Our focus is on protecting survivors, dismantling the networks that profit from exploitation, and most importantly, ending the demand that drives the illegal sex trade. Exploitation thrives in silence, which is why we are committed to raising awareness, supporting survivors with dignity, and pursuing harsh penalties for those who fuel or profit from human suffering.” said WCSO Sheriff Darin Balaam.

No other details about the operation were released
