Marlon Zielinski believes winning a national championship "doesn't change anything" about the sport he loves; but it may just help bring a major facility to town.

The 12-year-old recently returned home to Orange fresh off his success at the National Clubs Carnival hosted by Gymnastics Australia where for the first time, parkour was included among the events.

Marlon took out first place in his freestyle category while also picking up a silver medal for the speed run.

"I felt a little bit nervous," he said of competing against the best in Australia.

"But as you do more competitions you get more confident. There was some pretty tough competitors, but I had a good time."
