A Kentucky high school group was visiting The Louvre when the robbery of the French Crown Jewels occurred Oct. 19.
Robbers used a crane to access the museum, took nine pieces, and escaped on motorbikes after dropping one, French officials said.
The students and chaperones were held at the museum exit for nearly an hour and a half.
Emily Hernandez was 20 steps away from the Apollo Gallery in the Louvre Museum in Paris when she heard a student in front of her say, “Are they doing renovations? It sounds like there’s power tools.”
Then, everyone in the gallery ran out and looked “terrified,” she said.
Hernandez, the principal of Trinity High School in Whitesville, Kentucky , was a chaperone on the school’s “Traveling Classroom” trip, which aims to help students deepen their faith and
