Deputies arrested a Reno man accused of stealing $32,300 in jewelry from a 91-year-old homeowner while performing maintenance work, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office said.

The theft was reported Oct. 20 at a northwest Reno residence. The victim told deputies several valuable family heirlooms were missing.

Investigators said 42-year-old Robert Wild, who had recently worked in the home, is suspected of stealing the jewelry and trying to mail it to a metal refinery.

Wild was arrested Oct. 21 and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on charges of theft and attempted obtaining money by false pretenses, both involving amounts between $25,000 and $100,000.
