Boys soccer playoffs begin this Saturday, with two local powerhouses taking the top seeds in the 5A.
Sparks and Hug both finished 11-1 in league play, but the Railroaders earned the top seed from the Class 5A-North High Sierra League.
Sparks beat Hug, 1-0, in their second game to win the tiebreaker.
The 5A-North boys soccer Regional begins Saturday.
Hug is the No. 2 seed and North Valleys is No. 3 from the High Desert League.
Wooster is the top seed in the Sierra League and, like Sparks, has a bye in the quarterfinals.
Carson is the No. 2 seed and Damonte Ranch is No, 3. Carson beat Damonte Ranch, 6-1 on Wednesday in the regular-season finale. Sparks beat Reed, 4-1 on Wednesday.
In Saturday’s Regional quarterfinal games, North Valleys plays at Carson at noon and Damonte Ranch plays
