CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Governor Patrick Morrisey announced Thursday that he is expediting $1.1 million in appropriated and emergency funding to support food banks across West Virginia.
The move comes as the state anticipates potential delays in November SNAP benefits due to the ongoing federal government shutdown.
“While vulnerable West Virginians are being held hostage by Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats, we are going to put over a million dollars into the hands of food banks as they prepare for the fallout,” said Governor Morrisey.
“We’re being proactive and making some early moves to make sure our state is prepared, but a simple solution is for Senate Democrats to pass a clean, bipartisan funding extension and reopen the government.”
