CHARLESTON, WV (WVNS) -- Governor Morrisey announced that $1.1 million of appropriated and emergency funding will be expedited to food banks in West Virginia.

According to a press release, the funds will be given due to the possibility of the government shutdown delaying November SNAP benefits.

While vulnerable West Virginians are being held hostage by Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats, we are going to put over a million dollars into the hands of food banks as they prepare for the fallout.

We’re being proactive and making some early moves to make sure our state is prepared, but a simple solution is for Senate Democrats to pass a clean, bipartisan funding extension and reopen the government. • Governor Morrisey
