Officers found a gun in a Hudson’s Bay High School student’s backpack at the Vancouver school Wednesday.

The school received a report from a community member around noon that a student may have a gun. School staff called 911 and the district’s safety office, according to a message that Principal Amber Beardmore sent to families, students and staff Wednesday.

The school was then put on a “hold” response , in which the hallways are cleared and students stay in classrooms and resume activities as normal, according to the district’s website.
