HARTFORD, Conn. — Connecticut's Office of the Inspector General determined that a Hartford police officer was justified in the shooting of a man in November 2024 , according to a report released Thursday.

On Nov. 30, 2024 at 8:15 p.m., Hartford police officers were called to 730 Maple Ave. for a report of an individual who displayed a firearm during an argument with another person, said Inspector General Eliot Prescott.

The man with the firearm, later identified as Alexander Garay, 48, left the scene. Police officers saw and followed a Chevrolet Equinox leaving the scene, which Garay was driving.

Prescott said Garay crashed the Chevrolet at the intersection of Broad Street and West Preston Street. Two officers approached the car and ordered Garay to show his hands. Garay ignored t
