AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Newly released arrest warrants are shedding light on a Richmond County deputy who was terminated and charged in connection with a criminal investigation.

On Monday, around 3:45 p.m., Deputy Diana Santiago, 42, an employee of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office since May 2020, was brought in for questioning.

Officials say the investigation confirmed “various violations of the law.”

A sheriff’s office document states that the criminal investigation occurred on Sept. 8.

Santiago is charged with violation of oath of office, conspiracy to purchase or possess a controlled substance and unlawful street gang activity, the agency says.
