The mother of two young boys who drowned in a swimming pool was charged with drug offenses.

Authorities in Mississippi responded to a home in Gautier on Monday, Oct. 20, after receiving a report of two children unresponsive near a pool, the city's police department said.

The two children were taken to the hospital, where both were pronounced dead, according to Gautier police.

WLOX reported, citing the Jackson County coroner, that the two children were brothers, aged 2 and 5 years old.
