A new Kroger Marketplace store is coming to northwest McKinney along the city's border with Prosper, according to David Palmer, executive vice president with retail real estate services firm Weitzman.

The store will serve as the anchor tenant for Custer Frontier Marketplace , a commercial development at the southeast corner of North Custer Road and Laud Howell Parkway.

The specifics

A groundbreaking for the Kroger store, which will span 99,000 square feet, is planned for February 2026, Palmer said. The store is expected to open in March 2027.

The project will also include about 45,000 square feet of retail space as well as six pad sites that will be developed, Palmer said.
