KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - Police seized more than nine pounds of fentanyl from a short-term rental in downtown Kansas City, Kansas, in what officials are calling one of the biggest fentanyl busts in the metro area.
Captain Shawn Magee of the KCKPD Narcotics Unit said the amount seized could have had devastating consequences across the region.
“The tip of a pencil can kill one person. We got nine pounds,” Magee said. “We’re talking probably the entire state of Kansas.”
Officers also found guns, marijuana and other drugs during the operation, which wrapped up a recently started investigation. Police said the owners of the Airbnb property were victims as well, noting they were unaware of who was renting their property.
