HOWARD, Wis. (WBAY) - The village of Howard held a ribbon-cutting on Wednesday to celebrate the completion of several upgrades to brown county’s most-visited outdoor athletic facility.

Included in the $2.4 million project at the Nouryon Sports Complex was the installation of new artificial turf fields, fencing, backstops, bleachers, and concrete pads.

It was funded through a $1 million award from the Brown County Tourism Enhancement Capital Grant Program and the Village of Howard.

Those new upgrades are creating more of a stadium-like atmosphere, supporting players on the field as well as people in the stands.

The new ground surface also means players will get more time on the field, extending the season for an additional six to eight weeks.
