GREENFIELD, Ind. — The father of a hit-and-run victim took the witness stand Thursday in the Hancock County trial of the man charged with hitting the teen boy on his bicycle.
Scott Young testified that his son, Jasper, bought the bike at a community garage sale in Wilkinson on June 17, 2023, the same day that the 13-year-old boy was struck while riding the bike home around 10:00 p.m. Jasper suffered a traumatic brain injury with a stroke, as well as fractures of his pelvis, ribs, and vertebrae.
After coming out of a coma, Jasper spent almost six months at a rehab facility in Chicago.
“He needed therapy,” Scott told the jury. “He needed to learn how to walk, talk, all that, again."
