CINCINNATI (WXIX) - A 4-year-old boy with autism is in the intensive care unit after he was found unresponsive in a pool, Pierce Township police said.
The incident was reported at about 4 p.m. along the 3200 block of State Route 132 near Amerlia.
The boy and his father were at their home when the boy escaped and made his way to the pool, according to Pierce Township Chief Col. Paul Broxterman. As soon as he realized, the father ran outside and found the boy in the pool unresponsive.
The police chief said that the father then ran with the child to the roadway and flagged down a driver on SR-132. The driver performed CPR until emergency services arrived.
